I forgot to mention that Cruel Melody has been released in Japan. The European release is happening really soon. I’ll get the actual date up later today or tomorrow. Other than that some cool stuff is going down in about a month. We’re working hard.

  Studio Update

We're in it full swing now. The initial concept of this record from the start was to attempt to beg for, borrow, buy, steal, and use as much pre 1980 gear as possible and record as much of the album to tape as possible. So far, I think we're winning. There's something about older records that sounds better than today's albums and I believe that there's a lot that people have forgotten. Although modern equipment has made it easier for anybody and their brother to make a record (which is a good thing, for the most part), we have found ourselves in a position to time travel and not exactly bypass, but add to, the devices that have become the staples of modern studio recording. It's an exciting time and every single day gets more adventurous. I think that the "process" this time for me personally, is enhancing the songs themselves. I'll try to update with more info like this in the future, but it's easy to become caught up in "the tubes" as they say.



This is my prized possession. The mystical Flickinger 57 12 x 4 console from Paragon Studios in Chicago. There are very few of these out there, the most famous being Sly Stone's old console which The Kill's did their last record on. This one is very similar and it puts a ghost in every drum track.



Yes, the pedal in the upper right says "Bag Of Dicks" on it.



Something you almost never see these days.



It's all about the knee mic, and having a giant bass drum mounted with pillows and tape. Marshall has been wearing that shirt every single day. But he washes it in the LA river every day too. Please send Marshall more Goatwhore shirts. Somebody please!

  Onward and Above and Around and Thruuuuu

So you may have noticed that we posted a couple of tracks today. Hopefully you're enjoying this small taste of what's to come along with the album artwork for CYH. There's so much going on and so much about to happen I can hardly sleep at night. Cruel Melody was released in the US 1 year ago today as well. Thanks to everyone who's supported us and continues to be with us. There's so much on the horizon.

  For the folks freaking out about Kerrang

You guys should know by now that press prints what they want. They also asked me what my top 5 FAVORITE LB songs were, but I guess they didn't add that to the article. I haven't read it. Look, I'm glad that I was in LB. I wouldn't be where I am now had I not been part of it, but I can make fun of myself and a band I used to be in. I'm allowed to do that. I was part of it. So before you believe everything you read, just remember that I wasn't the writer. Sorry to get everyone all bent out of shape. -Wes
