Fred Durst's Second Act

Sporting a bushy salt-and-pepper beard, skater shorts, and beat-up black sneakers, Fred Durst compulsively fidgets with his silverware in a corner booth of a sleepy L.A. diner. ''I'm OCD beyond comparison,'' he explains, arranging his napkin and Diet Coke just so. Or perhaps he's just nervous about sitting for a rare interview, remembering well the harsh treatment he endured from the press as the frontman for '90s nü-metal superstars Limp Bizkit, and realizing the cycle of abuse could start all over again. You see, Durst is attempting a comeback — as a Hollywood director.

The singer's first studio film, The Longshots, is getting a wide theatrical release on Aug. 22. Starring Ice Cube and Akeelah and the Bee's Keke Palmer, it's a surprisingly sweet family film about a young female football player. ''It could easily be a cheesy movie,'' says Durst, who has two kids of his own, ages 18 and 6. ''But by me and Ice Cube teaming up, we were able to fight it. I didn't want to do a throwaway, mindless movie with fart jokes just to make 6-year-olds laugh,'' he says. ''I want to provide my children with some substance.''

A decade ago, Durst and Ice Cube were touring together as part of the hard-rock and rap Family Values Tour, and Limp Bizkit were about to explode into one of the biggest bands of the late '90s, eventually selling over 50 million albums worldwide. Durst, with his trademark red baseball cap and hyperaggressive stage presence, was rap-rock's most visible star. But with the turn of the millennium, Durst's popularity waned. After an embarrassing leaked sex tape and a public spat with Britney Spears, he went from bad-boy rock star to humbled laughingstock.

''That guy's gone,'' the now soft-spoken 37-year-old says of his aggressive old self. ''I mean, I'm still me, but that character, that alter ego, is backstage somewhere waiting to get on stage. The director has a whole other perspective going on.''

Durst says he wanted to be a director long before he wanted to be a rock star. As a high schooler in Gastonia, N.C., he fell in love with skateboarding and, along with it, the art of independent film. ''I lived through skate videos,'' he recalls. ''I watched [1985 skate documentary]Future Primitive every day for years. I was obsessed.''

Durst's enthusiasm for all things thrasher ignited his inner aggro, but other films, he says, brought out the softer side of an angry outcast. ''I got really affected by the John Hughes experience in the '80s,'' he says. ''It touched me. It was the right blend of sappy and cool. I was 16 when [I saw] The Breakfast Club. 'Don't You (Forget About Me)'? Forever embedded in my life.'' Durst eventually graduated to more sophisticated film fare, soaking up classics like Chinatown, Badlands, and Lawrence of Arabia and immersing himself in the work of Coppola, Kubrick, and Scorsese: ''There's something about their storytelling that I'm very inspired by.''

To hear Durst tell it, the astronomical success he had with music only served to derail his true ambition. Limp Bizkit, the band he formed at the age of 25, first rattled the rock world in 1997 with a paint-scraping cover of George Michael's ''Faith.'' A year later, the group skyrocketed to the top of the charts with Significant Other, which sold 635,000 copies in its first week and spawned four hit singles, including the ubiquitous ''Nookie.'' The band's reputation for raunchy lyrics, rowdy crowds, and an overall ''f--- you'' attitude made them stars — and anointed Durst as nü-metal's equally revered and reviled poster boy.

But as the band's following grew, so did the ratio of bullies to freaks, and Durst was growing unhappy. ''I was a kid who got picked on in school, and now the guys beating up those kids were wearing red caps and using my music to fuel that aggression,'' he says. ''But if they listen to the lyrics, the aggression is targeted at them.'' It didn't help that Bizkit's last effort, 2005's The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1), only sold 93,000 copies; the band has been on hiatus ever since. ''It felt like a good time to step away,'' he says, ''grow a beard, disappear, and make a movie.''

Later that afternoon, Durst drives his black pickup to the Sony Pictures lot, where he's overseeing The Longshots' last-minute color corrections, score, and credits. In a plush private screening room, he fixates on impressively technical moviemaking minutiae, scrutinizing tone consistency from frame to frame for well over an hour. Though he seems to have this directing thing down, it stands to reason that experience gained mostly by manning the camera on Limp Bizkit videos might make hima bit of a long shot. Indeed, it was quite a ways getting here. Right after Bizkit went limp, Durst got serious about his film career, taking meeting after meeting with execs, tirelessly trying to persuade someone to give him a chance. His name got him in the door, but despite Durst's unbridled ambition, he also saw plenty slam shut. It seemed he'd gotten his big break in 2002: He was tapped to direct the skater flick Lords of Dogtown, but when the film's budget spiraled beyond the scope of a first-time director, he was replaced.

Undeterred, Durst pressed on, becoming a regular fixture on David Fincher's sets (a pal and idol) while continuing to make the studio rounds, and got offered some ''really bad horror films,'' which he turned down. Finally, an indie film about a New York kid transitioning to college life and confronting the bully who tormented him through high school came along. It was a serious movie, and the producers were excited by Durst's vision for it. In 2006, he was hired as the director of The Education of Charlie Banks. ''I knew that as an independent film, I would reach the people who were important to me: filmmakers and film critics — people who [appreciated] that it wasn't a Freddy-versus-Jason, let's-take-the-rock-star-and-make-a-movie-out-of-a-music-video movie.''

Banks screened at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival to surprisingly positive reviews. Though never released, it earned Durst a rep as a legitimate directing talent. Among the converts was his old tourmate Ice Cube, who by that time was already committed to The Longshots. ''I was like, 'This guy can direct,''' Ice Cube says. '''He has the dramatic feel we want. He's the right man for this movie.''' Durst got the job.

When it comes to the marketing rollout, however, don't expect to see Durst's name featured prominently in any of the Longshots campaigns. In fact, only after a final fade to black will audiences first see the words ''Directed by Fred Durst,'' which is exactly how he wants it. ''I don't think my name would necessarily draw people to come see the movie,'' he says. ''It might hurt the movie, honestly.'' Matt Alvarez, one of the film's producers and a longtime Ice Cube business partner, who played a critical role in recruiting Durst, doesn't disagree. ''It's not what's expected of him,'' says Alavarez. ''But I also think people are going to be pleasantly surprised.''

If they are, and The Longshots pays off for director Fred Durst? ''Hopefully I can make a film that will become some quintessential experience for a generation, a landmark where you look back and it's not just, 'Oh, Limp Bizkit, this is silly.' Something important. Something substantial. If I leave the earth today, I'll be very grateful. I'm proud of myself. But s---: You can't stop wanting to move forward, right?'' Former LIMP BIZKIT/current BLACK LIGHT BURNS member Wes Borland has joined MARILYN MANSON as the group's new guitarist, according to Blabbermouth.net

he news was announced by Manson himself at a press conference earlier today (view below) ahead of his band's appearance tomorrow (Friday, August 15) at the ETP Festival in Seoul, Korea.

Manson said, "We have a new guitar player that's gonna play for the first time tomorrow; it's the first time we'll play on stage [together]. His name is Wes Borland and he used to be in a really terrible band that he left because he felt that it was a destructive force in art, and he has his own band, BLACK LIGHT BURNS, but now he is in MARILYN MANSON. We don't know how permanent that is, but starting tomorrow will be the first step. So this will be the most indestructible MARILYN MANSON."

A forum member by the name of Plz from Portugal managed to establish phone contact with Sam Rivers of Limp Bizkit. Although no sound bites or proof was supplied, he presented some interesting information concerning Limp Bizkit's current agenda and a few other interesting things about Sam himself.

Some interesting facts mentioned:

-An internal guitar search is in progress.
-The band will be entering the studio within the next month or so.
-Terms between band members (including Fred) and Wes remain intact, however he has no intention of rejoining LB.
-Sam has his own recording studio in Jacksonville where he records local bands.
-Band members are still on good terms with Fred.
-Sam has a side project involving Terry Balsamo.

We may have more interesting news concerning Sam to follow, stay tuned!

Its been awhile since Ive seen the mention of Limp Bizkit on any mainstream music website, however after scanning through my usual RSS newsfeeds today, I stumbled upon an article on Yahoo Music.

The headline reads Limp Bizkit To Reunite.

Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst has confirmed the rock band are reuniting, two and a half years after they split. The rockers went their separate ways in 2006, following the failure of 2005 comeback album The Unquestionable Truth.

Bandmembers have since worked on solo projects, with Wes Borland joining Marilyn Manson's band and Durst trying his hand as a Hollywood director. Rumours of a reunion recently began to circulate after pictures appearing to show the band rehearsing appeared online.
Durst confirms the news on the band's MySpace page: "Yes, it has been a while. But a while worth the wait. It is getting very close to time to drop the Bizkit on the universe. I say this with the absolute best intentions and motivation. We, Limp Bizkit, are excited about the future for us and for you. Let's stir some s**t up my friends." However, Borland isn't part of the comeback - he has been replaced by Evanescence guitarist Terry Balsamo.

Nothing we haven't heard already, and nothing really new. Its just good to see them getting some mainstream music press again. But when mainstream press start reporting that Terry Balsamo has replaced Wes, its starting to look less like a rumour. Its up to you to decide I guess, here is the article.

Expect more sites to be reporting this in the near future.

Limp Bizkit возвращаются!!!!
При участие Method Man, Redman, Xzibit, The Game, Kanye West, 50 cent, Swizz Beatz, Travis Barker и тд.
По идеи 2008 нужно было бы назвать годом «камбэков». Судите сами, весь год музыкальный мир обсуждал возможное воссоединение таких коллективов как Led Zeppelin, ABBA или Pink Floyd, но к сожалению, или к счастью этого не произошло.

Зато вот группа «нашей» юности Limp Bizkit, напротив, спустя два с лишним года после раскола опять готовы устраивать на сцене оргии, вакханалии и прочие шалости….

Не много истории: разойдясь каждый своей дорогой в в 2006, участники коллектива занялись сольными проектами, а их лидер «Весёлый» Фреди даже успел воплотить мечту детства в реальность — снять в Голливуде авторские фильм. Правда фильм ни хрена не авторский, а Диснеевский семейный сироп. Вероятно именно съёмки The Longshots убили во Фреди желание продолжать карьеру в Голливуде. Ну да ладно, еще успеет, 38 не возраст для гения режиссуры, это только начало пути.

В общем радуйтесь поклонники — группа возвращается. Единственная ложка дегтя в этой медовой бочке — воссоединения в старом составе не получится: гитариста Уэса Борланда (наотрез отказался от воссоединения) заменит Терри Бальзамо из Evanescence.

И еще немного мёда, по словам Фреда следующие музыканты заинтересовались в возможности поучаствовать в новоv альбоме группы: Method Man, Redman, Xzibit и Swizz Beatz уже сотрудничали с Limp Bizkit , а вот The Game, Kanye West, 50 cent и Travis Barker числятся дебютантами.

We're now getting settled in to the studio and we are starting to get busier. So we(Limp Bizkit) have decided that this Friday, We will be informing you guys every Friday with official updates. They may be blogs, pics, videos or all. Every band member will be posting in due time. This will be a long process but we want to share this with all you guys. As far as the questions about TUT2, I can honestly not answer that right now but that's not to say it won't come out. We are right now happy to be getting things going once again. Sam is talking about Chi Cheng from the Deftones. He was in a terrible car accident on November 4th with his sister as they were leaving their older brother's memorial services in Northern California. Chi is still in a coma, and his mother has asked his family, friends and fans to not only say a prayer for Chi, but everyday to spread some good in his name. Yesterday she asked to please wear your seatbelts. Today she has asked to call someone you love just to tell them "I Love You". Abe spoke with her this morning and she told him the Neurosurgeon said he was fighting the good fight and the doctors were optimistic.

Our prayers and thoughts go out to Chi as well.

Chi Cheng from the Deftones... He was in a terrible car accident on November 4th with his sister as they were leaving their older brother's memorial services in Northern California. Chi is still in a coma, and his mother has asked his family, friends and fans to not only say a prayer for Chi, but everyday to spread some good in his name. Yesterday she asked to please wear your seatbelts. Today she has asked to call someone you love just to tell them "I Love You". Abe spoke with her this morning and she told him the Neurosurgeon said he was fighting the good fight and the doctors were optimistic.

P.S We met up with the people from The cattyshack which is a wildlife sanctuary here in Jacksonville. That helps abused and rehabilitated big cats that need a home. The cattyshack ranch is doing a very good thing for less fortunate animals. They where also kind enough to let us take some photos with some of the animals. Check them out whenever you can.....

Finally

LBF- I finally remembered my freaking password to this portal. What I want you to know is that shit is going down!! The Limp dogs are bringing it hard. It is time to rally the family and prepare for the most significant year for us all - 2009

"According to Side2, former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash is trying to get Robbie Williams, Fergie (BLACK EYED PEAS), Jack White (THE WHITE STRIPES) and Fred Durst (LIMP BIZKIT) to join him for his headlining appearance at next year's edition of the Quart festival, set to take place June 30 - July 4, 2009 in Kristiansand, Norway. Slash will perform a mixture of old and new material on the festival's opening day.

Slash was in Norway earlier this month to promote his appearance at the Quart festival. His interview with Oslo TV can be viewed below.

Slash's wife Perla Hudson said in a video interview at Rockerrazzi.com that both Ozzy Osbourne and Fergie will make guest appearances on her husband's upcoming solo album. Slash himself told The Pulse of Radio that he was still working out the guest list. "I'm using different singers for each song, so we're figuring out which song goes with which person and I'm not sort of divulging the list of singers, but they're all well-known singers and...sort of, you know, like I go and play on a lot of other people's records, so I'm just making a record and gonna have people come play on this one, you know."

Hudson also said that Slash "feels great" about this week's release of the long-delayed "Chinese Democracy" from his former band, GUNS N' ROSES. She remarked, "He feels great about it. It's long-awaited. Our kids like it but they also like 'Elmo', so that goes without saying."

Slash left GUNS N' ROSES in the mid-'90s, forming SLASH'S SNAKEPIT before later assembling VELVET REVOLVER with several other ex-members of GUNS N' ROSES and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer Scott Weiland.

VELVET REVOLVER is currently searching for a replacement for Weiland, who was dismissed last April. Slash told Billboard.com on October 24 that the band has been approached by some well-known names, saying, "There's been a couple that might have been interesting, but...it's really hard to make something sound original if you've got somebody people are so familiar with hearing somewhere else."

Hello LBF-

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I hope you know how grateful we are for YOU.

It's funny going through some of these emails and comments. Madness and true loyalty. Some of the soliciting stuff os kind of obnoxious. If you want someone to hear you they will without it being beaten over their heads. I actually NEVER check out anyones site/band/page when they over saturate our lives with belligerent amounts of self marketing. I tend to become curious when people has grace and elegance in their approach, but that's just me.

I am LOVING the amount of hits we are getting each day. The more the number rises the more we know that it is time to make a difference for YOU.

I would also like your opinions on what songs you would like to have on our player for your pleasure. Maybe give us your top 5 songs in order of importance to you.

ALSO- we would like to know what your LB Christmas list would look like- maybe a set list in the order you would want, new LB merchandise, Wes rejoining the band, etc. Participate if you like. I am just curious.

And why can't this thing have a huge IM chat for us all to talk? If it does would someone please tell me how to do it. I want to chat with all of you.

Если вы хотите чтобы кто-то услышал вас они сделают это без надоедания им. На самом деле я НИКОГДА  не проверяю чей-то сайт/группу/страницу когда они переполняют наши жизни огромным количеством саморекламы. Я становлюсь любопытным когда у людей есть вежливость и ясность в своём представлении, но это только моя точка зрения.

Мне бы так же хотелось узнать ваши мнения на то какие песни вы бы хотели видеть в нашем музыкальном проигрвателе. Может дайте нам топ 5 песен в зависимости от важности для вас.

ТАКЖЕ- мы хотели бы знать как Рождественский список limpbizkit выглядел бы- может создайте список в зависимости от того чего вы хотите, новые limpbizkit товары, Уэс возвраўается в группу и т.д. Сделайте это если вам нравится. Мне просто интерессно.

И почему мы не можем сделать огромный IM чат для нас чтобы разговаривать? Если можем, скажите мне пожалуйста кто-нибудь как это сделать. Я хочу пообщаться с вами всеми.

Its very exciting the guys are gearing things up. Was an incredible feeling hearing that sick groove shake my core in person at the rehearsal spot while I visited Jax, FL. I guess we should all start bracing ourselves... it's going to hit hard when that stage gets rocked again. We are all victims.

And if you didn't get to see it in theaters, Fred's second feature film "The Longshots" is out now on DVD. Go support and pick it up. Very well directed & captured a great performance from Ice Cube. No denying Cube is an amazing actor & Durst is a born storyteller.

as far as I know they had booked tjs in newport as the managment had asked for an intimate venue, the promoters sense of the word 'intimate' was a venue with a capacity of around 500 however to the bands managment the newport center with a 2000 capacity was more like what they had in mind with the word 'intimate.

Fred Durst, Wes Borland, Sam Rivers, John Otto and DJ Lethal announced yesterday (Thursday, February 12) via a press release that they were reuniting for a tour and new CD. But according to Borland - who is currently on the road with his new band, BLACK LIGHT BURNS - things are far from set in stone at this point.

Speaking to Bob Suehs of Rock N Roll Experience following BLACK LIGHT BURNS' February 12 performance in Towson, Maryland, Wes said about his involvement with the reunited LIMP BIZKIT, "I'm only doing the overseas shows with them as of right now, and as far as the new record, with those guys, don't believe it until you see it. As of right now, there's nothing happening; I'm only doing the shows overseas with them and we'll see what happens." Borland also confirmed that he is no longer a member of MARILYN MANSON's touring band after hooking up with the shock rocker for a couple of shows late last year. "[Wes] said that he was in the studio and did three or four songs with Marilyn Manson and Twiggy [Ramirez, bass], that it's some of the best music that he's ever heard in his entire life and that the new Marilyn Manson material is way better than the last record ('Eat Me, Drink Me')," Suehs writes on his web site. "When I asked him for an explanation as to what happened, he simply said that story was too long to get into right now."

The original lineup of LIMP BIZKIT was last active in the fall of 2001, after which Borland left the band to focus on his own music. Borland rejoined for the 2005 EP "The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1)", but left again shortly thereafter.

LIMP BIZKIT was one of the most popular rock bands in the world in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Its first three albums have sold in excess of 20 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan."

The Pulse of Radio reports: KORN and LIMP BIZKIT toured together several times during the late '90s, most notably on the first edition of KORN's Family Values tour, and the two bands were right at the forefront of the "nu-metal" movement at the time. But now that LIMP BIZKIT is reuniting after being on hiatus for several years, KORN frontman Jonathan Davis told The Pulse of Radio that his relationship with singer Fred Durst has been strained for a while. "I'm happy that they're gonna play, but I just hope Fred just isn't an ass like he usually is," he said. "We'll see what happens. Hopefully Fred's got it together, 'cause there was one time when Fred was a really cool guy. The fame hit and went to his head. So I miss the old Fred. He was my buddy. So maybe he's humbled now and if he's like that then I'd definitely hang with him and be friends with him again."

LIMP BIZKIT announced last month that its original lineup was getting back together for a summer tour and new album, its first since 2003.

KORN and LIMP BIZKIT will play on several European festivals together this summer, which will give Fred and Jonathan a chance to renew their friendship.

Limp Bizkit are set to head into the studio to record their first album in four years.

The band, who made their live UK return at Download at the weekend (June 12), said they are hoping to release the follow-up to 'The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1)' before the end of the year.

"We're getting together our demos right now and we're going to go in and record them," said frontman Fred Durst.

He added: "I'm having a great feeling about going in and doing our record, more than I have about any of our albums before.

"It's not going to be a watered down version of Limp Bizkit, it's going to be a more explosive, more addictive, more driven version of Limp Bizkit."

The singer also denied their return was a "cash in", and that the nu-metallers plan to headline Download in the near future - despite cancelling a headline slot in 2003.

He told BBC Newsbeat: "This isn't a reunion, this is a comeback. We're here to take it back and to sit on top of the mountain again. We're going to come back to Download and headline it."

Fred was kind enough to call over seas to do a morning show with Mat Diablo of 91X in San Diego. What does Mat do? Mock him the whole time before calling Fred a "deaf, mute painter". Things got heated pretty quick before Fred gets hung up on.

A bit late with this I apologise, but the new Kerrang magazine has some interesting informaton about Limp Bizkit.

San Francisco metallers MACHINE HEAD have released the following statement:

"It is with the utmost disappointment that we must announce that MACHINE HEAD will not be playing the Sonisphere date at Knebworth in the U.K. on August 2.

"In a turn of events that has left us absolutely baffled, the promoter of the U.K. Sonisphere festival recently placed, unbeknownst to us, LIMP BIZKIT in our third slot on the festival. Seeing as the running order was a significant part of the negotiation and agreement between us and the promoter, and the fact that we had been advertised in that slot since the festival's announcement, you can imagine our surprise when we were 'told' that we would now be playing in the fourth slot, under LIMP BIZKIT, and bizarrely, it was actually expected that we would quietly move down the bill without issue. We will not.

"MACHINE HEAD turned down the U.K.'s Download festival, a festival we are very fond of � which, incidentally, had us above LIMP BIZKIT � to commit to the Knebworth festival, as we felt a closer kinship to the bands performing this year. In an effort to make this situation in Knebworth work, we have spent more than a week striving to resolve this issue in a proper manner. Unfortunately, that did not happen.

"So we have regrettably been left with no choice but to cancel our appearance rather than stand for the disrespect and indignity offered by a promoter who won't honor our agreement. While we know that our fans will be furious about this situation � as are we, beyond words � we trust that you will all understand our position, and we encourage you to voice your opinion about it as loud and clear as possible.

"The rest of our festival dates across Europe, including the other Sonisphere dates, as well as our headline of the Wacken festival remain unchanged."

As you may have read, and as we reported, Machine Head were REALLY pissed off about being put before Limp Bizkit at the Sonisphere festival, and by "pissed off" I mean they acted like little kids and quit the festival.

Now it seems they're back in, and I think that's the right thing to do cause they have lots of fans who deserve to see them live, and it's not worth disrespecting them over some pet peeve.

However, this raises an interesting question. Between NIN, Lamb of God, Metallica and Machine Head fans, will LB have any incidents in their performance?

The night (August 2nd) will have Lamb of God, Machine Head, LB, NIN and Metallica playing (in that order) as you can see from this poster so time will tell if people are gonna act like jackasses or not.

However, "MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn has vowed to "crush" LIMP BIZKIT when the two bands share the stage tomorrow (Sunday, August 2) at the Sonisphere festival at the legendary Knebworth Park, United Kingdom." so it seems like it will be quite a wild night.

If you're reading this and going to Sonisphere, DON'T be a fucking idiot. A music festival is supposed to be a great time, for both bands and people attending, don't be a loser and throw shit or boo any band just cause you don't like it. That's what the beer stands are for. Go get wasted while a band you don't enjoy is playing.

We have a huge thread about this so feel free to either e-mail us or post there your opinions, especially AFTER the festival, if you will have attended.

Lee has been updating his Facebook after Sonisphere and has made reference to Machine Head's attitude. He also mentioned Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails. It's great to see that the immaturity and feuds are gone between NIN and LB. Just a shame Machine Head couldn't be more mature...

Whilst Fred responded via Twitter not long ago offering Machine Head nothing but respect, here's some of what Lee had to say this evening.

It's great to hear Limp Bizkit had a great time at the festival regardless. No doubt they went down a storm.

Has Fred Durst Found Love Again?
December 1st, 2009 Apart from announcing the name of Limp Bizkit’s new album, Gold Cobra, on his Twitter, Fred Durst also revealed that he has found love again, just two months after the break up of his marriage.

“Life is so unpredictable!” the rocker wrote on Monday night (November 30). “I am absolutely in love! I feel that everything thus far has been trial that has led me to this moment of truth.”

When quizzed by one of his followers, “Who are you in love with? i wanna know,” Durst responded with, “Her name is Alex,” although the tweet has since been deleted (but we saw it!!).

The 39-year-old split with his wife of two months, Esther Nazarov, in late September after the couple tied the knot in Las Vegas in July.

It’s a feeling I can’t explain…We am blessed to be back together. And to get the support from the fans is really rewarding.

2 – We’ve been waiting for so long a new LB material. What are the novelties for the new album? Could you describe it?
Limp bizkit 2010 pure, raw, powerful, emotional and soulful!!

3 – What did you feel when Limp Bizkit was first introduced in Riga after 8 years with the original lineup?
I was nervous, it felt like a dream, and to be on stage in my birth place was really cool!!

4 – Could you explain why The Unquestionable Truth was cutted in two parts? I dont know…

5 – The new album is a fact, will be some colaboration on it? (maybe Korn’s JD)?
Probably not… but never say never.

6 – We heared by some way that March is the possible month of a Brasil date. What do you know about that?
There is some talks but we have to finish the new album… but we as a band really want to come!!!

7 – Is this the last Limp Bizkit album or you will be doing new music for a long time? What about the future projects?
We ARE back for as long as we can play… John Otto and I are making tracks and beats all the time.. we’ll see what that leads to…

Apparently there are rumours circulating that infomation regarding the new single will be revealed in January. These rumours come from fans who have apparently been speaking to Fred via X-Box Live and other mediums. These are just rumours, so make of it what you will.

BLB to Return in 2011 - 01.14.10
   
According to Wes Borland, Limp Bizkit plan to wrap up the sessions for their new album Gold Cobra within the next month or so and will begin touring in April. Given his commitments with the band, Borland has put his other group Black Light Burns on a temporary hiatus with plans to return next year. Borland recently revealed that he has over 20 new song ideas for Black Light Burns already in the works with more on the way.

Negotiations had started we had already mentioned here in Liveatu, but now, sources said the site HumoNegro.com negotiations are already advanced, in fact, well advanced!

The producer in charge of the negotiations in Brazil and Argentina try to join the trio to go on tour in March, from the beginning of April in Brazil, Chile and Argentina, the latter in the event Quilmes Rock 2010.

In addition to rumors, Fred Durst, lead singer of Limp Bizkit, posted today on its Twitter "will ROCK Bizkit Latin America.

There you go. A tour with Korn and RATM. Let's hope it really will become reality.

Concert in Florida (April 24th) - 02.06.10

According to their homepage (http://www.98rockfest.com/main.html), this years '98 RockFest' will have a very special guest, which they won't (or can't) announce until tuesday. Still they've put a picture up with question marks instead of the heads, to spice things up.
Well, the Limp Bizkit fans should notice quite fast, that this is a well known photo of the band. Another US concert (May 22nd & 23rd ) - 02.10.10

At the end of may, Limp Bizkit will perform at the "Rock on the Range" festival in Colombus, Ohio.
It's not clear yet on which day, but in case you want to see them, you can get your infos and tickets on their official homepage (http://www.rockontherange.com/lineup.html).
There are some other great bands too, like Papa Roach, Godsmack, Deftones or Cold. Worth checking out if you can.

Apparently Wes will be doing a guitar-led remix for a song by Combicrist on their upcoming remix EP.

"Combichrist, the post-apocalyptic electro act that are currently touring Europe with RAMMSTEIN, have announced a brand new menacing club smash in form of "Scarred", the third single from the highly successful album release "Today We Are All Demons".

Limp Bizkit's Wes Borland has spiced up the massive new single version of the track with some smashing guitar work. I personally don't care nor do I take these "Tweets" seriously but rumor "had" it that a song called Douchebag was gonna be the new single.

However, Fred has dismissed that rumor with another insightful Tweet:

A new video of Fred speaking with Hollywoodtv has surfaced, and he speaks a lot about the band's new album. One important thing to note is he claims the band are hoping to release the album on June 22nd, although this is not yet an official date. He also mentions the album is very "anti-radio".

Wes and dead animals - 04.19.10

The new promo pic for LB brought a bit of controversy as Wes is wearing what appears to be the skin of a dead animal.
Some fans came to his defense saying it's not real but Wes decided to clear it up for us all:

[Fred] я никогда не схожусь с бывшей, и не знаю каково это (смех). Это семья! Понимаешь, любовь всегда здесь. Я думаю в жизни каждого человека есть выбор и ценности. Ощущения как семья, чувствуешь брата. И мы молились об этом моменте долгое время, и по настоящему рады, что есть оригинальный состав и что Вэс снова с Bizkit.

[Meltdown] Limp Bizkit здесь в студии, включая Вэса, впервые со времён Chocolate Starfish, это немного смешно, потому что однажды (я не говорю о стрип-клубах) вы можете услышать трэк с Chocolate Starfish, и подумать «блин, это был шикарный альбом». И по моему мнению лучший.

[Wes] я всегда люблю думать, когда занимаюсь музыкой, о том можешь ли ты драться под это, показывать стриптиз под это или плакать, или убить себя. (смех)

[Meltdown] некоторые песни с альбома такие как Why Try, 90 to 10, Shark Attack, Walking Away, Loser, Back Porch, GFY типа Glad For You (рад за тебя) не знаю что это значит. [Fred] определённо там monster-riffs, наиболее запоминающиеся рифы Limp Bizkit будут на этом альбоме. Вэс в ударе, он неудержим в добавлении гитарных соло, есть несколько изумительных соло. Они по-настоящему круты, и я люблю гитарные соло. Не знаю, барабаны, Джон Отто тоже в ударе. Он (альбом) очень тяжёлый, грув-ориентированный. Конечно некоторые песни не такие тяжёлые, более эмоциональные, глубокие, но по большей части это атака, особенный альбом, и это атака. Не знаю, что ещё сказать о нём.

[Meltdown] когда Вэса не было в группе, ты слушал его группы?

[Fred] о, да!

[Meltdown] что ты об этом думаешь?

[Fred] я большой фанат Вэса, его картин, его музыки, всего. Для меня проблема не была в музыке, это другие личные конфликты. Мы оба очень страстные, амбициозные, оба лидеры собственной вселенной. Мы уткнулись в тупик, и захотели пойти своими собственными путями. Это не была моя инициатива, Вэс решил  удалиться, и я должен был это принять. Я думал «Вэс ушёл, я не могу позволить всему дерьму утонуть, я всё ещё возглавляю корабль, мы должны продолжать. Это реально сделать и мы можем это сделать. Хотя это уже не так как раньше, не так весело, не так увлекательно»
[Wes] мне нравится пластинка которую они записали без меня. И мы играли пару песен оттуда. И это реально очень весело играть их живьём.

[Meltdown] Фред тебе будет 40 этим летом, мне стукнуло 40 в прошлом году, скажи ты ещё можешь быть агрессивным и всё ещё иметь злобу, вещи которые были в твои 20-е годы, и ранние 30-е?

[Fred] я думаю если ты утрачиваешь свой огонь в 40, то у тебя серьёзные проблемы. У меня определённо есть огромное пламя горящее внутри. Зажглось ли оно он детских психологических проблем или ещё как-то, но оно там. Я использую музыку как упражнение, чтобы выпустить тех демонов, потому что если бы я не делал этого, я скорее всего был бы опасней для общества. Я фокусирую всё это на группе, на сцене, на музыке. Я не агрессивен тем же образом, но у меня всё ещё есть свой взгляд на вещи, который провоцирует экстремальную эмоциональную реакцию. Это внутри меня, я не могу выбросить это, избавиться от этого, но я определённо более сконцентрирован, хаос более контролируем теперь, что делает его намного более опасным по моему мнению.

[Meltdown] говоря об опасных людях, расскажи об этом Neil Diamond’е, как он оказался на альбоме? Я видел вы обмениваетесь твитами, и все дела.

[Fred] я следую (сервис на твиттере) за Нилом Даймондом, так как я его фанат, мои родители выросли слушая его музыку, он мне просто нравится. Я следую за ним, и я написал ему твит и он ответил (смех). Было бы достаточно дико если бы мы сделали jam с ним, и он ответил что было бы шикарно. И вот на первое апреля я написал фейковый твит «это круто, что ты есть на пластинке» и он отправил фейковый ответ обратно «да, было классно, Фред я буду работать в студии на случай если хочешь отблагодарить в ответ». То есть мы просто развлекались, нет никакого сотрудничества.

[Meltdown] ты уверен что это реальный Нил Даймонд, а не какой-то шестнадцатилетний развлекающийся ребёнок? Реален ли он?

[Fred] я знаю что это Нил Даймонд, он связывался со мной лично. И эти голубые значёчки показывают кто проверен, и реален.

[Meltdown] ты твиттер-эксперт!

[Fred] так точно!

[Meltdown] ну я нет)) Вэс я хотел бы тебя спросить о риффах. Бывает ли у тебя во время написания песен, что ты думаешь «о, это был бы шикарный рифф для песни Limp Bizkit»??

[Wes] да, всё время. Я имею ввиду, что я даже не думаю об этом, я просто пишу рифы, или что бы там ни было, и если это может как-то примениться, то оно применяется. Определённо есть вещи на других альбомах которые я делал, который прекрасно бы вписались в песни Limp Bizkit, и песни Limp Bizkit которые бы подошли для других моих групп. Понимаешь, это всё “транспортируемо”.

[Meltdown] вот что ещё парни, когда я узнал что вы возвращаетесь, и там было заявление что вам противно от теперешней музыки, была ли это просто шутка или так и есть на самом деле? Что вообще поменялось в музыке, с тех пор как мы видела вас всех вместе?

[Fred] я думаю музыка продолжает быть тем чем она есть – огромным голосом в нашей жизни. И это всегда хорошо. Мы сказали это с некоторой долей иронии, я думаю, но в то же время мы чувствовали, что нашего частного стиля музыки, который мы создаём, нет… в общем с тех пор как мы ушли нет никаких групп которые заполнили бы пустоту, лично для нас – каждому своё и всё относительно. Но мы чувствовали, что существует пустота, и то что мы делали в Limp Bizkit  всё ещё не было клонировано или копировано, по крайней мере мы об этом не знаем.

[Fred] это определённо было весело, хотя если исходить из новостей, то совсем не весело (смех).

[Meltdown] да, это было непредсказуемо и неконтролируемо, я думаю. Но это весело, взять к примеру альбом Appetite for Destruction (дебютный альбом Guns N' Roses) - это именно та пластинка, именно в то время. И вам также удалось оказаться в нужное время в нужном месте.

[Fred] да, мы чувствовали что это благословение, что Limp Bizkit играли в то время, и мы до сих пор здесь, и очень счастливы по этому поводу. Знаешь, я думаю, что всегда есть место группам, которые органичны, реальны и по-настоящему верят в то что делают. Независимо от жанра музыки, и это то что мы делаем. Наша музыка не привязана к рекорд-лейблу, любым радиостанциям, плейлистам или популярности. Она такая какая есть. И мы можем спать ночью, зная, что мы делаем музыку только потому что хотим её делать.  

[Meltdown] в общем стриптизёры могут спать спокойно?

[Fred] да, мы иногда смотрим друг на друга и говорим «вау, стриптизёрам это понравится!!». Это не есть плохо))

[Meltdown] понял вас)

[Wes] мы также думаем над тем что будет работать вживую. Что будет интересно играть на концертах. Будет ли это динамично вживую, даст ли это ощущение взрыва в наших головах.

[Meltdown] никогда не записывался в студии и не выступал, но бывает ли, что просто играя песню понимаешь, блин какая она красивая!
 
[Wes] да, постоянно. Что-то работает на записи, и что-то что просто никак не работает живьём. Мы пробуем, следим за зрителями, и после шоу смотрим друг на друга - «это отстой!»
[Fred] многие фанаты хотят определённые песни с альбома, они более избирательны, и мы хотим их сыграть, но когда перед тобой огромная куча народу и только очень-очень маленький процент людей знает песню нам приходится её выбрасывать. Иначе только пара людей втыкает, а остальные думают, что это перерыв на пиво. Понимаешь, это закон, и мы чувствуем закон, когда нужно мы его чувствуем.

[Meltdown] это радио-Детройт, и хочется спросить, вы всё ещё друзья с Кид Роком, Эминемом и типа того. Говорили ли вы с ними вообще?

[Fred] я ни с кем из них не разговаривал, но я всё ещё большой фанат Эминема. С Кид Роком не общался уже много лет, не знаю что с ним там и как.

[Meltdown] ну передай ему привет)

[Fred] да, я бы сказал привет. Вообще я фанат различной музыки из Детройта. И определённо первым моим опытом были Kiss, я большой их фанат. Они открыли Детройт для меня.

[Meltdown] круто! Мы ожидаем увидеть вас в туре, в этом году вы играете на «Rock on the Range». Вы будете играть с 37 другими группами, это будет круто. Встретитесь с людми которых не видели многие годы, заведёте новых друзей, узнаете группы, которых не видели до этого.

[Fred] именно! Я читал список и думал «кто это? Что они поют? А это кто?». Я немного отстал от поезда с новыми группами. Я человек привычки, мне нравится музыка 70-х, и много других вещей, кроме того, много новой музыки. Я в нетерпении увидеть всех, узнать, что твориться в мире сейчас. Это будет удивительная вещь. [Meltdown] вам интересно, когда ваши дети увидят вас? Мои дети уже взрослые и если они слышат меня на радио, в этом нет ничего особенного. Но по крайней мере я могу сказать, что однажды это случится. С вами также?

The Gold Cobra US tour is coming together with support coming from rap legend Snoop Dogg. During a recent interview with Radio 95 Will Rock, Fred stated the tour will consist of two rock acts and two hip-hop acts. The Wu-Tang Clan is a rumored hip-hop act to be included. Stay tuned.

Wes working on music for Resident Evil - 06.30.10


   

Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland has been working on some new music as of late for the upcoming film, "Resident Evil: Afterlife". More word on his involvement with the film is expected in the coming weeks. In other news, the group are planning a South American tour for October with a full U.S. tour to follow in November/December. Dates for both treks are currently pending, as is a release date for the groups new album "Gold Cobra".

- Привет, Фред. Времени мало, давай сделаем это по-быстрому.

- Поехали!

- В Россию приезжаете не первый раз. Какие мифы рассеялись или подтвердились после прошлого приезда? Какие в целом впечатления о стране?

- Россия – восхитительная страна. Девушка, на которой я женюсь русская. Мне нравится русская культура, архитектура, история…Еда! Для нас, рожденных в США, Россия – это что-то из детства, что-то ностальгическое, такое мифическое место.

- Какая уж там ностальгия. Наше детство – это же холодная война. Я, например, кроме ощущения страха по отношению к Америке из своего детства ничего вспомнить не могу.

- Согласен. Тут уж ничего не поделаешь. Это то, чему нас учили в школе, но это была лишь книжная интерпретация реальности. Мне всегда было интересно, какая она на самом деле – Россия! Одно дело узнавать о стране из фильмов и новостей, другое увидеть всё своими глазами. У вас очень душевные! Учитывая всё через, что пришлось пройти русскому народу, вы очень добрые. Ещё нас поразила отличная организация концертов. Мы думали, будем играть в шалаше. А тут такая толпа народа. Так много поклонников пришло. Русскую кухню я уже упоминал, да?

- Да. Нет ничего лучше русских женщин и пирогов! Ваша будущая русская жена готовит? Есть что-то любимое?

- Ой, она отлично готовит! Всех названий не упомнишь. Одно из самых моих любимых…Салат такой с картошкой, горошком и мясом.

- Оливье! Русская индейка! Ни один праздник без него не обходится.

- Объедение! Ещё такие клёцки из картошки…

- Вареники?

- Может быть. И эти ещё… Как там они называются? Внутри мясо и лук. Всё такое вкусное и завёрнуто в тесто. Напомни, как это блюдо называется?

- Пироги.

- Точно! Вот именно это слово!

- Есть ещё одно слово – «водка». Скажи, что не все русские – алкаши.

- Я ни с кем не напивался в России.

- Странно. Это, наверное, потому что ты не пьешь?

- Да, кстати не пью.

- Тогда меняем тему. За то время, что Limp Bizkit отсутствовали, никто так и не занял Ваше место. Это, потому что Вы самые крутые, ни у кого нет Вашего безбашенного запала, или рэпкор теперь не так популярен?

- Да, мы крутые. Я сам удивляюсь. Чё за дела!? За 15 лет c Limp Bizkit никто так рядом и не постоял. Я и представить себе такого не мог. Не важно популярен рэпкор или нет. Мы всегда будем занимать своё почётное место. Мы пытаемся оставаться самими собой. Времена, когда нас волновало, попадёт наш диск в чарт или нет прошли. Мы не меняемся только для того, чтобы соответствовать времени.

- Вы cнова вместе. Уэсс Борланд вернулся, и, похоже, это надолго. Говорят, альбом «Gold Cobra» писался в атмосфере братской любви и дружбы?

- Мы стали ближе друг другу, чем когда-либо. Хотя мы всегда были друзьями. Да чего там - мы были как семья! Проблема-то была в том, что мы никогда не ссорились, не дрались и не ругались - все просто молчали. Никто не говорил, что творится у него на душе, никто не говорил о своих проблемах вслух. Мы отдалялись друг от друга все дальше и дальше, напряжение в группе нарастало, поэтому мы и расстались. Сейчас мы ценим друг друга на много больше, чем раньше!

- Некоторые исполнители, например, группа Metallica в своё время просили помощи у психологов, участвовали в сеансах групповой психологической терапии…

- Нет, никаких тренингов и разговоров с психологами у Limp Bizkit не было.
Вот если бы Аксель Роуз и Слэш в своё время занялись групповой терапией, было бы неплохо…

- Точно. Не пришлось бы ждать многострадального альбома 14 лет. А как Вам писалось в новой атмосфере полного взаимопонимания?

- C одной стороны веселее, с другой - сложнее. Да, и мы наконец-то научились общаться! Теперь каждый готов идти на уступки только для того, чтобы не обидеть другого. В мои обязанности всегда входило не думать о том, кто доволен, а кто нет. Я просто брал лучшее и делал музыку. Я же продюсер! Когда все такие радостные и пытаются угодить друг другу - принимать решения стало сложнее, чем раньше.

- Т.е. на вопрос: «Будем ли брать эту песню в альбом»? ответ всегда «да»?

- Да. И опять - я выступаю в роли «плохого парня» и МНЕ приходится говорить: «Так чуваки, НЕТ! Вот это - не катит!...»

- Откуда такое название у новой пластинки – «Gold Cobra»? Звучит олдскульно.

- Точно! Мы тоже подумали, что название олдскульное, такое а ля 70ые. Но не ретро. Когда пришло время как-то называть альбом, Уэсс принёс список из пятидесяти возможных вариантов. Я увидел среди них «Золотую Кобру» и решил: «Опа, ОНО»!
Gold Cobra звучит также круто как Limp Bizkit!

- На концерте будете в усах и полицейских очках?

- Очень даже может быть. Уэсс что-то говорил о том, что наденет усы и подгузник. От него всего можно ожидать. Может и нагишом выйти на сцену. Покрасит своё «достоинство» чёрный краской, наклеит сверху усы и будет так выступать. Он у нас парень непредсказуемый!

- Сложно исполнять новые песни в концертной версии? Нервничаете?

- Да нет, не нервничаем. Их просто очень скучно исполнять. Никто не знает, никто не подпевает. Стоят, тупят. Слушают. Это немного расстраивает. Так что всем кто читает это интервью, домашнее задание - послушать «Золотую Кобру» перед концертом!

- Многие на прошлогоднем концерте высказывали недовольство по поводу разогрева. Серёга не понравился. Кто будет выступать у вас на разогреве на этот раз?

- Кто-нибудь кто не понравится ещё больше! Я бы хотел, чтобы у нас на разогреве выступал ансамбль русской народной музыки. Подскажи какой-нибудь.

- Золотое кольцо. Если серьёзно, есть отличные ребята, называются «Терем-квартет». Хотя ты, наверное, не запомнишь, лучше запиши. У них есть огромная балалайка!

- Да! Да! Надо позвать балалаечников!

- Фред, есть несколько вопросов от твоих поклонников. Вот, например, спрашивают какая любимая татуировка.

- Да нету у меня любимых татуировок. Вот пусть сегодня это будет татуировка Альберта Энштейна.

- Молодой человек по имени Руслан говорит, что Limp Bizkit сильно повлияли на его музыкальные предпочтения. В 2000 году увидел клип Take A Look Around и поняслось... А что на тебя повлияло в своё время, и в частности, какой альбом ты можешь слушать каждый года на протяжении лет 20, и который будет оставаться актуальным, потому что он перевернул твоё отношение к музыке?

- Таких пластинок очень много. Не могу назвать какого-то конкретного музыканта или исполнителя. Меня всегда восхищал Элвис Пресли, Led Zeppelin, Фрэнк Синатра. Можно ещё упомянуть Jane's Addiction. Я их поклонник с самого первого альбома. Cypress Hill и House of Pain тоже мои герои. Ещё люблю драм-энд-бейс. Например, Sub Focus. Даб-степ послушиваю.

- Ещё один вопрос, цитирую «Однажды в моём родном городе самый ожидаемый мной концерт сорвался из-за того что рухнула сцена. Хотелось бы узнать о самом экстремальном для вас концерте»?

- Все концерты Limp Bizkit экстремальные. Помню Woodstock. Зрители откуда-то притащили листы фанеры. Подняли их над головами и начали кататься на них как на сёрфах. Я стою на сцене, думаю: "Ух ты! Сёрф из фанеры! Круто!" Потом оказалось, что фанеру отрывали от каких-то зданий и конструкций. А это в полиции квалифицируется как дебош и массовые беспорядки. Я-то просто хотел повеселиться, а они "Limp Bizkit спалили Woodstock"! Забавно!


- Анатолий интересуется, вспоминаешь ли ты свою службу на флоте? Какой жизненный опыт ты там приобрел и, как это отразилось в твоем творчестве?

- Служба во флоте помогла мне понять, что во флот я больше ни ногой! Я никому и никогда не рекомендовал бы идти в армию. Единственное чему я там научился - красиво сворачивать рубашки и трусы.

- Зато теперь пакуешь чемоданы наверное очень быстро?

- Так точно!

- Может быть, используете какие-то приёмы строевой подготовки перед концертом?

- Нет-нет, что вы. Перед концертом я делаю упражнение на растяжку. Распеваюсь за час до выступления. Молюсь и выхожу на сцену. Я очень нервничаю перед каждым выступлением. Выхожу на сцену и превращаюсь в плохого парня!

- Фред, спасибо! Увидимся в Москве!

- Отлично! Быть всем! Будем отрываться, колбаситься, слэмиться и отжигать! Так, что тащите свои задницы в "Олимпийский" на Limp Bizkit!

Фронтмен знаменитой американской нью-метал группы Limp Bizkit Фред Дарст завтра, 7 октября, познакомится с родителями своей украинской невесты.

Как стало известно, сегодня, 6 октября, группа Limp Bizkit приехал в Киев. В 17:30 музыканты дадут пресс-конференцию в конференц-зале гостиницы Интерконтиненталь, а завтра коллектив отыграет концерт в КиевЭкспоПлаза.

Однако в планах фронтмена группы не только концерт - Фред Дарст завтра будет знакомиться с родителями своей невесты, крымчанки Ксении. Музыкант пригласил родителей девушки в Киев и оплатил их проживание в гостинице Интерконтиненталь.

Напомним, что киевский концерт Limp Bizkit состоится 7 октября 2010 в одном из павильонов КиевЭкспоПлаза в рамках мирового тура в поддержку нового альбома Gold Cobra. На разогреве у американцев выступят украинские группы ANTENNA и NOFACEZ.

Well, I woke up today with this strange feeling about Limp Bizkit's tour in Brazil, which is where I live, and I was right. Sadly they cancelled their Brazilian tour due to the fact that our friend, Fred Durst, has serious issues on his neck. We hope he gets well soon. Last week he even posted about his neck pain on Twitter "Looks like I have to have a neck and back adjustment tomorrow. I was hoping the pain would just go away. Bizkit rocks too hard!".

Unfortunately looks like I will have to wait a little bit more till the day when I will finally see this band playing live right in front of my eyes. Poor Brazilian guy. Some things are just meant to be the way they are. I'm still in love with this band and the music they do. Now, let's wait for them to drop Gold Cobra and hope they come to South America to promote it with memorable concerts. We need to live the Bizkit Experience at least once.

We understand that the band is going through some internal problems at this moment, at least this is what the promoters have told us, and we wish these things can be solved and things get better over the Bizkit camp. Also, we would like to wish Fred a good recovery and say that we are still waiting for that moment when the Bizkit meets their South American hardcore fans.

Thanks to all the people who sent me messages today. Looked like someone had died, "oh man.. I'm sorry for you" etc, hahah... you guys know how important this opportunity was to me, but that's life. Our time will come South American brothers!

NOTE: When I said the band was going through some "internal problems" I didn't mean problems within the members, but with their tour management. From what I know, the guys have never been happier with each other, they're all friends and they love putting on great live performances. It's sad that Fred is living this drama right now, but that's what happens when you rock too hard.

Группа "Limp Bizkit", которая планирует выпустить новый альбом "Gold Cobra" в декабре этого года, рассказала о будущей пластинке.

Лидер группы Фред Дерст рассказал о том, что в записи одной из песен с пластинки принял участие американский рэпер "Raekwon", известный как один из участников "Wu Tang Clan".

Фред так же добавил, что у них получился настолько "жесткий" трек, что фанатам группы, возможно, окажется не под силу выдержать его.

Ещё одним сюрпризом для поклонников станет инструментальное вступление, которое коллектив записал при участии лидера "KISS" Джина Симмонса.

Напомним, что последний альбом популярной группы "Results May Vary" вышел в 2003 году.

Interview with Wes Borland by MusicRadar
“When Wes Borland left the multi-platinum-selling rap-metal band Limp Bizkit in 2001, he was sure it was for good. And when he split again in 2005 (after rejoining a year earlier), he was more than certain that his second exit was indeed final.

Fast forward to 2011, and the 36-year-old Borland is back in the fold. This time, however, he swears he’s not running away again. “I’m in Limp Bizkit to stay,” he says firmly.“I’ve accepted the fact that Limp Bizkit is my band, one that I’m a part of, a band that I’ve built from the beginning. It does me no good to be in somebody else’s band playing their music, like Marilyn Manson or Korn. Being in Limp Bizkit allows me to be myself.”

Says the man who on any given night dresses up as anything from a gorilla to a creature from outer space. “That’s part it it, too,” he says, laughing. “Without me becoming different characters, I wouldn’t be a real artist, and the band wouldn’t be what it should be. It all goes hand in hand.”

Utilizing a downtuned seven-string Ibanez guitar (which he’s since abandoned) and a seemingly limitless supply of sounds that sprang from his fertile imagination, Borland virtually defined the ‘nu metal’ genre on big-time hits such as Nookie, Rollin’ and Break Stuff. In the process, he helped guide Limp Bizkit (which also includes frontman Fred Durst, bassist Sam Rivers, drummer John Otto and DJ Lethal) to staggering success: the band’s 1999 release, Significant Other, sold over 16 million copies worldwide.

“Selling records is fantastic,” Borland says. “But if you’re not loving what you do, and if everybody is throwing knives at you, it can get old very fast. It took me a while to come to grips with so many aspects of being in this band.”

And so, the third time is apparently the charm for Borland and the Bizkit, who have just released the album Gold Cobra. A robust affair, bursting with aggressive riffs, deep grooves and a surprising amount of guitar solos, it’s both a return to form that doesn’t feel like a nostalgia trip and a giant leap forward that doesn’t come off as a forced attempt at maturity. (On a couple of cuts, Durst, famously branded by music critics as the poster boy for hooliganism of every stripe, displays an astonishing degree of introspection that shouldn’t be confused with standard-issue navel-gazing.)

While on tour in Brazil, Wes Borland sat down with MusicRadar to talk about Gold Cobra, his guitars and gear, and his renewed appreciation for Limp Bizkit.

The guitar seems more dominant on Gold Cobra than on previous Limp Bizkit albums. Was that the plan going into the studio, or did the role of the guitar evolve and increase as you recorded?

“I never really thought of it that way. I guess I tried to bring some of the creativity that was there on the first record…a lot of the noise and the sound generation that was somewhat impotent on the second and third records. Those records had something of a clean-cut guitar sound. I don’t know… That’s just how I’m playing now.

“I think it’s just a result of my having worked with other people and getting better at my craft. We never talked about it as a band: ‘Hey, let’s make the guitar more dominant.’ But if that’s how it comes off, fantastico!” [laughs]

You even seem to be soloing more than ever. Shotgun, Walking Away, Loser, Killer In You all feature lead breaks.

“That’s true. Solos seemed appropriate for those songs. In the past, they didn’t seem all that necessary or important, but this album felt different in that way. There wasn’t this big idea of ‘change’ per se, we just… [laughs] Yeah, I felt like playing some solos. On the other records, there were sections that you might call ‘melodic leads,’ but on Gold Cobra, playing real solos felt very natural. Like I said, maybe I’ve evolved as a guitarist, I don’t know.” [laughs]

Loser has so many different guitar textures – there’s the echoey intro figures, crushing walls of My Bloody Valentine-like chords in the pre-chorus, zippy little lead lines throughout and a harmonized solo. How do you figure out everything you’re doing on a song like that?

“For that song, Fred had made a demo at his house. It was pretty much just a synthesizer, a drum machine and his vocal, but it was really good. I loved the song right off, particularly the vocal. It’s always a pleasure when you can compose guitar parts from a strong vocal and not just put the melody on top of guitar riffs. When you start out with just music, you’re always wondering what the chorus is, what the bridge is… This way, you’ve got the song, and you can build your guitar parts with a lot more intent.

“With Loser, I was able to pile on a lot of elements and sounds, and I could take them away and put them back at will. It reminded me a lot of the song My Way from the Chocolate Starfish album. In fact, for the opening, I set up the exact same amp and effects chain that I used on My Way.”

Which is what, exactly?

“A Maestro solid-state Echoplex and an Ibanez flanger pedal that has a setting called ‘whacked.’ I put that through a 1965 Zodiac Twin 30, which is a pretty bizarre old amp with push buttons for EQs. I’ve used that amp for a lot of clean sounds over the years.

“For the actual guitar, on that song I believe I used my signature model Yamaha set to the bridge position pickup. On Chocolate Starfish, I think I played a PRS set to the bridge position, as well – it’s something of a similar sound, the two guitars.”

Walking Away is a pretty poignant song – not what Limp Bizkit is typically known for. How do you see Fred growing as a lyricist?

“I think that he’s getting better. We definitely have the element of party–slash-braggadocious sentiments that’s inherent in rock, metal and hip-hop. The Beasties had it, Public Enemy had it, although they had a political bent to a lot of what they did… But that song goes other places; it’s a bit of a departure. It sort of puts more eggs in the basket of our Jane’s Addiction-ish tendencies.

“Sound-wise, that’s what happens when I play a Fender Bass VI, which was kind of a failure for the company in the ’60s but was utilized by people like Robert Smith from The Cure in the ’80s. It looks something like a Fender Jaguar, but it’s got light-gauge bass strings that are tuned an octave lower than a guitar. If you tune the strings up to a standard guitar tuning, you get a round, lush, deep guitar tone that’s pretty incredible.”

On so many of the new songs, your guitar tone changes every 15 seconds or so. Tom Morello once told me he made a “sound chart” so he could keep track of his effects combinations – do you do something similar?

“No, not really. I know all of my pedals really well, and I can usually hear when I’m making a mess of things. Sometimes I just pile pedals on top of each other and my cables can get rather spaghetti-ish, so I spend a fair amount of time untangling everything. At the same time, though, I have a good ear for what I’m doing. Once I make a sound on a record, it’s not hard for me to go, ‘Oh, I did it like this,’ and I remember how I went about it.”

During the past decade, you’ve spent more time out of Limp Bizkit than in. You’ve gone and come back twice. What were your reasons for leaving? And why did you keep coming back?

“When I left the first time in 2001, I was 26 and I had absolutely had it with people making fun of the band. I felt embarrassed to have my peers write off what I was doing. We were so successful and at the top of our game, yet we were this huge target for everybody’s hate. I didn’t know how to handle it. At the same time, Fred and I weren’t getting along. We were at the opposite ends of we wanted to do creatively. So it felt right to leave. I needed to make a change, be in a different band, have a whole new life.

“I had no regrets about leaving. I had so much anger about so many things, about where the band had gone… I basically gave Limp Bizkit the middle finger. Our manager, Jordan Schur, who also signed the band, started calling me about two years later, just sawing away: ‘Please come back. Please talk to Fred. Please talk to the guys.’ It took almost two years to get me and Fred in a room together again.

“At the time, it seemed that we might possibly be on the same page, so we tried to make a record without going on tour. The whole thing was a commercial and artistic failure. The record that came out, The Unquestionable Truth, which was released in 2005, is not a record that I stand behind. Now we can look back at it and say there are some cool things on it, but it’s not our best work. After that album, I didn’t so much leave the band than we all seemed to scatter. Everybody left and went different directions.”

So what changed in 2009 when you rejoined again?

“Here’s what happened: Jordan again started sawing away at me, and he said we should tour first before making a record. I said no – no way. But then I found myself thinking about it in the middle of the night, and so I said to myself, ‘OK, I’m going to call Fred. I’m going to go see what he’s like now.’

“The next day I went to Jordan’s house to have a drink with Fred, and I couldn’t remember what I was mad about anymore. Everything about him and the situation felt new again. Maybe it was just the fact that we were older, I don’t know. But I do know that I sat there thinking, I’m not going to hold on to any past memories. This is a clean slate.

“I felt that we were different, but I mean that in a different way. I accepted the fact that we were different, and I wasn’t going to try to change him. He was just as sensitive to me in many ways, to the point of realizing that I’m good at things that he isn’t and vice-versa. It’s a very bizarre bubble we’re in.”

You made a point of saying how you left the first time because the band was ridiculed. Of course, we both know that nothing’s changed in that regard – Limp Bizkit still aren’t the darling of the critics.

“No, we’re not. But I’ve accepted that. What’s interesting is, because the deck is stacked against us and we’re now the underdogs, I’m interested again in a weird way. Being in the band is a challenge now, whereas before, when we were at our zenith, it was like clubbing baby seals. People don’t care about us now. Things are harder for us. For some very weird reason, that’s interesting and exciting to me. I feel as though we’re building something again. My return is complicated, and there’s many gray areas to it.”

On this record, you said that you used your Yamaha signature model, plus the Fender Bass VI…

“Yeah. I also used some Jackson guitars and some Telecasters. The Fender guitars were older models. I really like their sound, particularly when the pickup is switched to the neck position. They sound rowdy.”

Did you use any seven-string guitars?

“No, I stopped using those in 1999 or 2000 or so. I phased those out when I got disinterested in the other string. [laughs] Since then, I’ve been a six string player. One thing I do use, though, is a four-string guitar that has a bass A string, and then A-D-G guitar strings. It’s built by a guy named George Gordaninsky, who’s a Lapian luthier. It’s evolved over the years, but the point of it was to have two strings that were an octave apart that were right next to each other. This allows me to play single-note parts that I could never reach on a traditional guitar. I can also make up riffs that have octave changes that would be impossible otherwise. It’s a very cool guitar.”

You talked about going back to an old effects chain, but did you have any kind of standard array of pedals or effects on this album?

“Normally, the distortion is always through an amp, and for this record I used an Orange 200-watt Thunderverb through an Orange 4×12 cabinet. For clean sounds, I used the Zodiac Twin 30 that I mentioned before, and for delay I rely on that Maestro Echoplex. I did have another delay unit that they don’t make anymore, it’s called a Malekko. They have some cool pedals, but their delay is fantastic.”

Artistically, do you now get all you need from Limp Bizkit, or are you still involved with other musical projects?

“Limp Bizkit is my main priority, but my side project, Black Light Burns, is still a labor of love. We have a record written, so we’ll see when that comes out. When we tour, we go out in a van and trailer with me driving. We’ll take a soundman, but that’s about it. It’s bare bones. Also, whenever I get a chance, I try to tour with Combichrist. I played four dates with them last year. They’re really good friends of mine.”

How do you push yourself as a player?

“I try to practice a lot. I like to use effects, but I try to put a ceiling on the amount. If you spend all of your time fooling around with a bunch of effects, trying to figure out how they all work, you’re not really being creative.

“I do try to listen to as many new bands as I can. I’m interested in a lot of new music, and I’m always trying to bring that into my life. That’s why I like playing with different musicians: I always go to different places on the guitar when I play with other people, and that allows me to bring new sounds to Limp Bizkit. I think that by challenging myself and always staying slightly uncomfortable is the best way to learn and grow.”

Last November 22nd, Fred Durst was the guest star in Poolside with Dean Delray and there he confirmed that Limp Bizkit had parted ways with the label they have released all their records with. Through its subsidiaries Flip, Geffen and Suretone Records, Limp Bizkit has managed to stick to the label that holds such big artists as Lady Gaga or Beyoncé. Fred Durst was even part of the executive board for some time serving as Vicepresident of Interscope Records, and Jordan Schur, their manager, is the former CEO of Interscope and Geffen, and he currenty runs his founded label in a joint venture with Interscope: Suretone Records. Casually, that was the last label Limp Bizkit had signed a deal with.

Now, according to Fred, the band has gone independent and are waiting until they can naturally write a hit song that would make people in the USA attend to their concerts again.

Sam Rivers may team up with Jim Root for electronica project
Jim Root (Slipknot, Stone Sour guitar player) recently spoke with backstageaxxess.com about a tentative electronica project with Limp Bizkit’s bassist Sam Rivers. He said Sam had a lot of “aerial, spacey, Portishead like music” written in his home studio that he loved and that he might join him to form the new project.

Во время первого визита в Россию, Уэс пообещал, что  альбом обязательно доделается, и выйдет в своё время. И кажется что время уже на подходе.

 Ясно,спс,ну в общем вы считаете что сегодня 28, Московский концерт будет более Энергичным,
 чем завтра в Питере, или наоборот, как вы ощущаете свою готовность?

 Сэм:

 Ну как тебе сказать, я каждый раз, когда уежаю из Москвы, то не знаю, когда я еще вернусь
 сюда, но жду этого момента с нетерпением, и год сам не заметишь как пролетит в этой музыкальной,
 и деловой обстановке, не успеешь глазом моргнуть на кресле самолёта, как ты уже в Москве.
 И насколько энергично я буду себя чувствовать, уже зависит от случая.
 Мне бы очень хотелось побольше услышать что-нить о ваших басистов.


 Роман X-Guy:

 Ну поскольку у нас в России другой уровень, то я даже более чем уверен, что многие скажут,
 что раз они самоучки, значит на них спросу меньше.

 Сэм:

 Ну почему же??
 В России шоу бизнес более замкнутый чем в США, я то конечно не знаю, не могу сказать насколько
 он успешный у вас в стране, потому что я хорошо все эти тонкости не знаю, но тем не менее,
 лично я считаю, что они не Вуутены, но своего добьются, у меня нет никакого негатива на этот счет.


 Роман X-Guy:

 Ну ладно, переёдем к главному: ...
 
 наши Российские фэны очень хотят слушать что-то из материала 3х долларов,

 Как вы вообще относитесь к тому что из голд кобры были исполнены далеко не все песни?
 мы например никогда в живую не видели выступления с песнями: 90.2.10, autotunage, и Killer In you.
 Это такие восхитительные вещи на мой взгляд, вошедшие в стандартную версию альбома.
 Как лично вы относитесь к этим песням? и вообще, какие на ваш взгляд самые удачные песни из
 этого альбома?

 

 Сэм:
   
 Да ты знаешь, Голд Кобра это альбом записанный через много лет, после первых 3-х, то
 я к нему отношусь уже так, скептически, сама песня Голд Кобра это та, в которой мне бас
 партия нравится больше всего, а остальные меня волнуют с той точки зрения, кому они больше нужны.
 Что Фред посчитает нужным, то и будем играть. В основном старое конечно.


 Роман X-Guy:

 Ну ясно, я вас понял, а чем занимаетесь в Москве сейчас?
 
 
 Сэм:

 с женой общаюсь

Вчера в округе Дувал вблизи лесопосадок нашли полумёртвого человекообразного с длинной бородой. Сие одушевлённое лежало бухое в хлам, тряся ножкой и под нос бормоча, постоянно повторяя какое-то слово, похожее на "Bowling". Сразу была вызвана экстренная судмедэкспертиза штата Флорида. Но к приезду группы тело опознал один из местных отморозков, воскликнув с удивлением и гордостью "Да это же пиздабол-старина - Дёрст!".

Раньше были чёткие песни с запоминающимися классными названиями типа just like this, almost over. это что вообще за уг? по старым песням мы каждые рифмы запоминали. всё было чётко! на кобре был высер монотонный с ужасным сплющенным звучанием. здесь ещё хуже.. где те самые грувовые Бизкиты 90-х?  Где то приятное качалово с мягким звучанием? С иронией типа Траста? Нет такого! Мне кажется, они и ТУТ2 уничтожат(((

И по РТР про Кротика мультики перед школой классные были утром! Эх! Сейчас без плоского телефона без кнопок и "ХЕР-КОДА" - ты никто!!! Блядь!
